About Brad

Brad has a degree in Elementary Education and Spanish from Luther College and an MA in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from California State University Northridge. Brad lives in Roseville, Minnesota with his creative wife Rachael and two caring and hilarious children. In his spare time, he loves to read, hunt, fish, and fiercely advocate for school reform.

Prior to his current innovative work in school transformation, Brad spent 16 years as a K-12 teacher and school leader in Minnesota, Tokyo, and Colorado. As a member of the DSST Public Schools community in Denver, Brad served as the founding School Director of DSST: Byers Middle & High School, one of the highest-performing intentionally diverse schools in Colorado and a 2019 United States National Blue Ribbon School.

Over Brad’s 18-year career, his award-winning schools have achieved top 1% in the U.S. recognition for academic results, especially in terms of the persistent “achievement gap” between students based on race, economic class, and (dis)ability.
