This Privacy Policy notice outlines our commitment to protecting the privacy and personal information of our students, parents, and Staff. DIIS is committed to safeguarding all personal information that we collect and store. We handle this personal information with the utmost care.

We ask all parents, employees, and other users of DIIS services to read and agree to DIIS data privacy policy.

We abide by the best practices and principles laid out in the Amended Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Personal Information Protection Commission, Japan) and any other applicable laws, regulations, or guidelines.

1. Collection of Personal Information:

We may collect the following types of personal information:

1. Student Information: Names, addresses, student identification numbers, and other information required for educational purposes.
2. Parent/Guardian Information: Names, contact details, and other information necessary for communication and administrative purposes.
3. Staff Information: Information related to employees and staff for employment and administrative purposes.

2. Purpose of Use:

We use personal information for the following purposes:

1. Educational Purposes: To facilitate learning, provide educational services, and manage student records.
2. Communication: To communicate with students, parents, and staff regarding educational matters, events, and other relevant information.
3. Administrative Purposes: For the administration and management of school operations.

3. Disclosure to Third Parties:

We do not disclose personal information to third parties without consent, except as required by law or in situations allowed by the APPI.

We only share personal data with a Data Processor if they assure us they will safeguard the data according to data protection laws and our expectations. We make sure these assurances are outlined in a contract or another legally binding agreement.

If deemed appropriate, we might establish data-sharing agreements with other Data Controllers.

DIIS will never sell your personal information.

4. Security Measures:

We implement appropriate security measures to protect personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. Access to sensitive personal information, like data related to racial or ethnic group membership or medical history records is limited to designated employees. Initially, employees are granted only fundamental access to personal information databases. Additional access levels are provided only when required.

5. Rights of the Data Subject:

In accordance with the APPI, individuals have the right to request disclosure, correction, suspension of use, and deletion of their personal information. Requests can be made through the principal of the school.

If you wish to exercise any of your rights under the data protection law, for which we act as the data controller, please submit your request by reaching out to our principal.

It’s important to understand that these rights may not be absolute, and there could be situations where we are entitled or required to decline requests based on applicable exceptions or exemptions.

We will make every effort to respond to written requests as promptly as possible, ensuring compliance with statutory time limits in all cases.

6. Cross-Border Transfers:

If personal information is transferred outside of Japan, we will ensure that the recipient has adequate data protection measures in place.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy:

We reserve the right to update or modify this Privacy Policy to comply with changes in the law or to reflect changes in our practices. Any changes will be communicated through appropriate channels.
