Kindergarten (Montessori Method)
Welcome to Disha Indian International School’s Kindergarten Program.
The Montessori method, developed by Maria Montessori, promotes independent, self-directed learning in a carefully prepared environment. Emphasizing respect for each child’s individuality, the approach fosters holistic development through hands-on activities, multi-age classrooms, and a teacher-guided facilitation of learning.
A key element to Montessori Education is that it stresses “learning how to learn”. Students are encouraged to do their own research, analyze their findings, and come to their own conclusions. Montessori Method teaches students to think, as opposed to memorizing information for the sole purpose of passing exams without actually understanding the material or committing it to long-term memory. Instead, students literally learn how to learn for understanding and how to build on retained knowledge–and they learn that the process is actually fun! Memorizing the right answers will earn high marks on an exam in the moment, but learning how to learn and retaining information will earn high marks in the moment as well as for future achievements.
The Kindergarten Montessori program at DIIS is designed for children between the ages of 3 to 6. We aim to provide our students with the opportunity to develop self-awareness and grow to be lifelong learners and emphatic individuals.
